Aramco
POWER THE FUTURE
Aramco in one of the most important oil companies in the world, and as such is heavily involved in many racing sports, especially F1, and more recently in esports about racing.

We've been approached to create a tv serie on their new mentoring project: Power the future.

Its scope is to find and nurture the most prominent talents in esport racing from the United Arab Emirates and grant them a sponsorship to get them on track to compete with the best esports talents from all around the world.

The serie follows the different steps of the project, from the initial selection of the talents to their training, until a final competition to decide who's going to win the sponsorship.
Apart from the filming of the serie, the project heavily relied on the creation of a great number of animated assets: lower thirds, titles, charts, overlay graphics and of course a cinematic opener.
Being in charge for both the creative and art direction of the animation side of the project, I worked closely with the serie Director and set Director to create consistency trough graphics, lights design and final colour grading.

The digital nature of esports was of course one if not the main source of inspiration. Looking at Aramco brand guidelines I also identified their "powerlines" as an interesting concept to base our visual strategy on.

I envisioned these power lines as an abstract representation of three talents, racing in a digital / high tech environment like light streaks, energy running in a electric circuit.

This concept quickly became the angular stone for all the animated assets created for the project.

The main and most important part of it was the cinematic opener: at the very start I knew I wanted to involve a reveal of a racing car and its iconic steering wheel.

The animation is basically a representation of the journey of the three contenders towards the final prize.
Despite the abundant presence of 3d elements, the look I opted for was flat, like a futuristic tracking display able to monitor the three pilots performances and position while showcasing additional information like pictures, time on lap and more.
